History
Stone Ridge at Elliot Lake opened in July 2005 to rave reviews. It offers all the amenities you would expect from a championship golf course. The course was designed by renowned golf course architect Ted Baker. Golfers will delight in the breathtaking vistas of the rock escarpment, beautiful Ryan Lake and the vast northern Ontario wilderness. The course will challenge your entire game from tee to green. With four different tee decks you will be sure to find a distance that suites your game. A printable scorecard is available below which will show you yardages and handicaps for each hole. The ladies tee’s play from just over 5,000 yards, while the men’s tee’s play from 5,682, 6,118, or 6,801 yards.
Ted Baker has been designing golf courses for over thirty years now. He has designed some of the finest courses in the country. Ted’s philosophy is that you can only build a great golf course if you’ve got a great piece of land and since Stone Ridge is carved out of the Canadian Shield the scenery and views are some of the best in Ontario.
“Rarely does a golf course architect have the opportunity to work with a site of such exceptional beauty. The escarpment, the lake, the wetlands, mature vegetation, exposed rock faces, and dramatic elevation changes, Stone Ridge at Elliot Lake is destined to be one of the finest venues of the sport in Northern Ontario. The design fits effortlessly into the landscape. It will look mature from the day it opens”. Ted Baker
Ted Baker was accurate when he made this statement back in 2005. Today the course conditions are rated very highly amongst Northern Ontario golf clubs.
